Michael Launer

Michael Launer is a third generation appraiser, in the footsteps of both his father and grandfather who both spent their careers with the Bank of America Appraisal department. The Bank’s Appraisal Department was founded in 1935 by Michael’s grandfather, EJ Launer.

Michael was raised in the Antelope Valley where he attended Antelope Valley High School and AV College. Michael served honorably with the US Army during the Vietnam War. After returning to the US he was employed by Pacific Telephone as an electronic technician and was later hired by Bank of America as a staff appraiser in the San Bernardino-Riverside County service areas. He was transferred to Bakersfield in 1981 and continued as a Senior Appraiser with the bank until 1985. After two years employment as a commercial appraiser with AL Appraisal Company, he established an appraisal department for Paramount Bank in Bakersfield. Launer & Associates, Inc. was established in 1989. Since that time, in addition to full-time operation of the firm, Michael served two terms as President of the Bakersfield Chapter of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers, two terms as President of the Appraisal Institute Bakersfield Chapter and served in various Appraisal Institute positions in Region VII. He has taught appraisal course for both appraisal organizations as well as at Bakersfield College.
